My name is Joe Gray, and I use Gray Matter Lifting to communicate with you on the interwebs. Since 2013, I have been lifting out of my garage exclusively and have been involved in the garage gym community since then. I’m a moderator on Reddit r/HomeGym and have helped grow the community from 40k to 350k+ in under 5 years, I’m the creator of the Garage Gym Competition, which in 2021 had 1200 participants across the planet and over $30,000 in prizes.
My personal motto is “Better Than Yesterday.” This is who I am and what my views of the world are. It also defines my life goals. Every day, I strive to be better than the day before. I strive to be a little smarter, stronger, and happier each day. My wife Jamie, RN, and my daughter Audrey (4 years old) live with me in Northern California. We also have a dog, Jax (Cane Corso).
My resume contains a decade of corporate training, project management and event coordination experience. I also have a Masters Degree in Instructional Design to a Digital Audience. Before I turn 40, I am pursuing the Elite Total in lb. I am a member of a large network in the garage gym community and want to help make this community even better.
